A totally unique tool that serves the same role as a printed directory without cutting down the trees!
After 15 years of successful publication of the multi-award winning global directory, The Workbook, I&MI Media has made a major decision to stop the printed edition and shift to a web-based distribution system.
The result is a truly unique product - the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Workbook - a tool which allows meetings and events buyers to emble their own custom directories of data-rich pdf pages of hotels, destinations, congress centers and destination management companies, and download them in a single document.
Based on its 14-year-old website www.i-mi.com, the tool is, as I&MI Media managing director Bill LaViolette described, “fantastic for those buyers and planners who use international destinations and venues. Now they can come to our site, search the world, individually select the information pages they want and with a single click, emble them into a custom pdf document. They can even add their own title to the cover.
“We feel that this is the future of directory and content publishing,” he continued. “We created a way to take all of the award-winning elements of the printed edition, design, data, etc, and deliver it with what may be a ‘unique on the internet’ tool without losing a single element of what we have done well, and what has worked well for our advertisers all these years.
“The other dramatic result is that we were able to reduce our advertising rates by almost half without loosing any of the quality that we are known for. Now our clients can get their message to the market immediately without having to wait almost a year for a print edition.
“Our clients have their own website where they create and manage their web and pdf presentation simultaneously with the important ability to update their data themselves at any time.”
The DIY Workbook went live on 1 July and has already generated very positive response from buyers.
